Open the Real Estate File, draft different requisition letters to the utilities departments, read the Land Registry/ Title search on the property, and draft requisition letter to the Vendor/Purchasers' solicitor office. Draft the closing documents, meeting with the clients, and preparing for the real estate closing.

FAMILY LAW: UNCONTESTED DIVORCE

 

Perform uncontested divorce proceedings. Meet with the clients, draft Petition for Divorce, file with the Superior Court of Justice, serve the Petition to the Respondent. Draft and file the Motion Record to obtain the Divorce Judgement. Obtain the Divorce Certificate. Draft Complex Separation Agreements. Outline issues of Child and or Spousal Support, issues relating to child custody and access. Division of Assets.

CIVIL LAW:

 

Draft and File Complex Statement of Claims and Statement of Defences. Act on behalf of the Plaintiffs or the Defendants. Draft and file Motions, Examination of Discoveries, Notice of Garnishments, and Writs. Attend Pre Trials, and Full Trials.

BUSINESS REGISTRATION or INCORPORATION:

 

Register Small Business Registration and Incorporating Corporations, and partnerships.

Draft Complex Last Will and Testament. Inform clients of the importance in protecting the Beneficiaries of the Estate, with respect to the Income Tax Act, and the Family Act. Choose a proper Executor for the Estate, and assist in the administration of the Estate. Outline the power of the Trustee/Executor. Draft General and Personal Power of Attorneys Outline issues relating to choosing Primary Attorney and Secondary Attorney. Place restrictions within the Power of Attorneys.

SMALL CLAIMS COURT:

 

In Small Claims courts (SCC) ordinary people settle minor disputes concerning money or property with a neighbour, a merchant or a customer for amounts up to $25,000 (Alberta is now $50.000.00).

 

They are people's courts where simple disputes are resolved. However you should consult a paralegal who can handle your file or just coach and assist you if you want to do it yourself.

 

CRIMINAL COURT APPEARANCES -

SUMMARY (minor) CRIMINAL CHARGES

 

Attend at the appropriate provincial Court of Justice as Court Agent for the criminal solicitors representing the accused when unable to appear in person. Request the Crown to Elect, Receive Disclosures, Video and audio tapes. Appear at numerous court appearances on Adjournments Motions. Have set Pretrial Dates and Trial Dates.
